Nelly’s mum was interviewed by US Embassy

Nelly’s mum had attended an interview at the embassy and the two were hopeful that she was going to get the all-important document.

The young lady who has changed the lives of her family and underprivileged children also shared a photo of her mum in an iron sheet house they lived in ten years ago.

“My mom will be joining me in New York for the CNN Heroes Tribute gala on December 11th. This is when the winner will be announced – based mostly on your votes,” she said on her Instagram page.

“She got the visa!” Nelly announced happily.

Nelly is among the people shortlisted for the 2022 CNN Hero of the Year Award. She needs votes to bring it home and you can vote for her 10 times every day.

5 Kenyan teens to serve humanity

It’s a good year for Kenyan philanthropists as five Kenyan teenagers have also been chosen to serve humanity for the rest of their lives in the Rise Challenge program.

The Rise Challenge Winners 2022 competed against 80,000 teens from all over the world; 500 were shortlisted for it while 100 made the cut.

The challenge is part of a KSh 121 billion initiative by Eric and Wendy Schmidt to find and support global talent.
